Topics getting the most attention in Youngstown public meetings, ranked by how frequently they come up.
Utility Rates
Youngstown is fighting a proposed utility rate hike from SOBE to keep your monthly energy bills from jumping. If city officials and consumer advocates win this push, local households will see lower utility costs.
Bridge Removal
Youngstown is planning to demolish a historic bridge built in 1929, which is going to shake up daily commutes and local traffic patterns. Expect detours and changes to how you get around town once the project gets rolling.
Public Health Advisory
Youngstown issued a public health warning and pulled city workers inside because the air quality went south. You'll want to check local advisories before you head outdoors for long stretches.
Business Retention
Youngstown City Council is considering stepping in to save the Cornersburg Sparkle Market from shutting down. Losing this grocery store means the neighborhood could lose a key food source and local jobs.
State Assistance
Youngstown city council is officially asking the state for backup on the SOBE facility issue. This move could completely shake up how we handle local environmental rules and city cash.
